Merrickville to Smith Falls, Ontario

We left Merrickville at 9:30 AM for our next stop, Smith Falls.  The dock there does not take reservations but I called them and they had several docks left so we locked up the final 3 locks, a total of 5 locks today and 14 miles.   We arrived at 12:10 PM.  The Rideau River is now wide but shallow.

This is day 86 from Florida and 2585 miles.  Wow what a journey it is.
Of course we have locks to pass.  Note the camping at the lock. This was a large group of paddlers proceeding north.
Each lock has a lockmaster house or maison d'eclusier.  In the old days the lockmaster lived on site.
This is the dock at Smith Falls campground.  Power, water and IH is happy.  Nice park setting for Bryce as well.  After a walk around we decided our food was more appetizing so, like most Canadians do, we fired up the grill.
Across the basin was another dock and a park.
Canadians like their fountains and flowers and they are beautiful.
