Saugatuck, MI

We had a short run today to Saugatuck, an artists' community 30 miles south of Grand Haven.  We entered the pass which is the Kalamazoo River,  Narrow river but compared to the Georgian Bay it was a cakewalk.
Sun was out today, a nice change, winds were light but the seas were 2-3 feet on our beam, we rolled a bit but not terribly.

 Beautiful homes along the river
The river opens up into a lake.  Our slip is on the left beyond the yachts.  We sterned in with a cross current.
The small white deck boat is a chain ferry.  It crosses the river for $1 per passenger.  The operator cranks away utilizing a chain on the bottom of the river.  I had to wait until he got across for fear the chain would foul my props.
The slips we are in are operated by a local restaurant. Lots of tourists on the boardwalk asking Debbie questions, I hide on the bridge. No Eddie here to take that duty in the evening.
Very nice shops in a quaint town,  Also not one but TWO Kilwin Ice Cream stores, almost across the street from each other. No, I did not partake this time.
